I absolutely LOVE this book. Even before I finished reading it, I knew that it was going to be good. Remember not to judge a book by it’s cover, this book sure looks intimidating, but as soon as you open it up, you get drawn into the incredible details and vivid pictures that are formed while reading.
The Capital (Leading City over the 12 Districts) created the games to prove that they are in power over the Districts. The main character, Katniss Everdeen, takes the place of her younger sister in the Hunger Games. They will take one innocent girl and one innocent boy from each District, which are picked from a drawing, they then fight in a large arena until the last one survives. Katniss is strongest with the bow and arrow, for she is a powerful huntress. This is how she gets food in the arena, she creates allies, as well as enemies. It was a harsh and difficult game that she was placed in. Does Katniss make it out alive?
Katniss forms special bonds with others while in the Hunger Games, she is placed in the Hunger Games because she stood up for her younger sister, so that she wouldn’t have to watch her sister struggle to survive. Using her family and friend bonds, she is able to keep moving forward. A lesson that this novel can teach you is that, Family and Friendship can give you strength. Overall, I would rate this book a 5 out of 5.
